Owner & Director
Candace Dance Company is owned and operated by Candace Roussel. She has led Candace Dance Company competition teams to win national titles all over the country. She studied under Cydni Hutson for over 24 years and was a member of her instructional staff for over 10 years. Candace was a Soloist and Artist in Residence of Twin City Ballet Company. She has competed and performed all over the country at well-known conventions and centers, such as New York City Dance Alliance, Starpower, JUMP, Broadway Dance Center, and Steps on Broadway in New York City. She was named Regional Outstanding Dancer numerous times at New York City Dance Alliance and served as a Junior Member of the Southern Association of Dance Masters. Candace also performed in an off-broadway production titled "Shake the Floor," where she performed with "So You Think You Can Dance" runner-up Danny Tidwell and SYTYCD winner Travis Wall. Candace has studied under prestigious, world-renowned dancers, such as Joe Tremaine, Debra Allen, "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, Tyce Diorio, Nick Lazzareni, Mia Michaels, Mandi Moore, Ray Leeper, and Dave Scott to name a few. Recently, Candace received the opportunity to work for Dancing with the Stars. She worked closely with Witney Carson, Vanilla Ice, and Dancing with the Stars field producers to rehearse and film for an episode at Candace Dance Company's studio. Candace continues to travel to competitions and conventions all over the country to further her dance knowledge and stay current with new trends. She believes it is very important to continually further her knowledge and evolve as dance changes in order to provide fresh new choreography and dance instruction. Her choreography has won numerous awards nationally. During her college career, Candace was a Louisiana Tech cheerleader for 3 years and a member of the Regal Blues dance team for 1 year. She loves sharing her love of dance with children of all ages!
Meet Our Instructors
Allison Singleton is one of Candace Dance Company’s accomplished instructors. Her passion for dance began at age 4. She studied under the successful instructor Cydni Hutson for 14 years in the disciplines of ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. She was also a member of Cydni’s instructional staff for 6 years. She has competed and performed at well-known conventions such as New York City Dance Alliance, Starpower, and JUMP. Allison has studied under prominent dancers, such as Joe Tremaine, Travis Wall, Laurie Johnson, “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, and Mandy Moore, to name a few. She graduated from LSU in December 2012 with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education along with an additional certification for grades 7-12 Mathematics. She has taught 4th, 7th, & 9th grades, but is currently not teaching to be at home with her daughter, Ella.
Gabrielle Pueblo began dancing at the age of four. She began competing at the age of 13 and attended competitions and conventions in the Ark-la-tex area including, Showstopper, NYLA, Talent on Parade, Nexstar, and KAR. Gabby also began as a teachers assistant at the age of 13. Gabby has taken classes from many well known dancer and choreographers, such as Fikshun, Dusty Button, Angel Roberts, Taylor Quinn, Mary Ann Lamb, Geo Hubela, Dena Rizzo, Arielle Elonys, Aaron Burr, and Haley Mac Cooper. Gabby also spent a summer at camp in Dallas Texas learning from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Gabby has always had a strong passion for dance and teaching. She plans to continue helping young dancers grow and watch them become as passionate about dance as she is!
Meet Our Instructors
Lydia Lynn Lococo
Lydia has been dancing since the age of 4. She was a member of Candace‘s senior competition team for the 2018-19 season and is now ready to share her passion with younger dancers. Throughout her years of competing she has attended multiple well known competitions such as KAR, Young Artists, Showstopper, and Groove. She loves to attend conventions where she has taken master classes from many professional dancers. In her time outside the studio she is Assistant Manager and trainer at Sleek Physique Shreveport. She also is a student at LSUS pursuing a fine arts degree. She is excited to share her knowledge and love for dance throughout this dance season!
Mackinley Loyd has been dancing for 14 years, including 12 years of ballet training, 5 years en pointe, 8 years of jazz and tap, and 4 years of modern technique. I started when I was 3 years old starting at Carol Anglin Dance Center (CADC). Mackinley joined Louisiana Dance Theater (LDT) and Louisiana Dance Foundation (LDF) in 2014 and has had the opportunity to work with Dianne Maroney-Grigsby, Jon Lehrer, Soili Arvola, Ceyhun Ozsoy, Nikoloz Makhateli, Ashley Murphy, Bailey Anglin, Brandi Coleman, Vincent William, Daunte “Cheesy” Borner, and Sean-Michael Francois. Mackinley has performed numerous times at the Red River Revel, First Methodist Church Christmas Church Night, Dance His High Praise with Orchesis Dance Company of Grambling at Grambling State University and at The Strand Theater. She also participated in the LDT adjudication for The Regional Dance America by Jeffery Gibler. She has also auditioned and was accepted into Joffrey Ballet Summer intensive programs. Mackinley has also worked closely and performed the choreography of Christopher Huggin, a former member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In 2016 she attended Ballet Bon Temps Festival Regional Dance America Southwest in Baton Rouge where she studied under many amazing dancers including Iliana Lopez, Thom Clower, Coco Loupe, Jeffery Stocker, Amelie Hunter, Kee Juan Han, Helen Daigle, Diane Cahill Bedford, and Christine Spizzo.
> Since being at Candace Dance Company as a part of the Senior Company, she has worked and studied under many great dancers and choreographers including, Tamara Sexton, Ricardo Hartley from Juilliard, Ty Riley, Seth Robinson, Justin Streeter, Donovan Gibbs, Jensen Freedman, Melissa Miles, and Brandon Bryant. Mackinley has performed for the Harlem Globetrotters and attended numerous competitions and conventions all over the country as a member of the Candace Dance Company Senior Competition team. She is excited to teach ballet and technique this year at Candace Dance Company.
